VS Performance at Silverado

For the third year, the Village Singers were invited to perform at Silverado, a memory-care facility. It is always a privilege and a pleasure to perform for these folks! As usual, we sang a number of songs from our recent Christmas Concert and then another half dozen carols as a sing-a-long with the residents. It is always heartwarming to watch their faces light up and hear as their voices join ours in the familiar carols during the sing-a-long. No matter what memory issues they are struggling with, most still recall and cherish the songs and enthusiastically belt them out along with the choir! The music begins around the 20 second mark.    (Thanks to Cheryl for the video footage.)

Our very special guest at the concert was Santa Claus who visited with audience members and made an resounding appearance in the concert as "The Man with the Bag."

Another guest (who snuck in) was Mr. Grinch, but he was unsuccessful at stealing Christmas!

Here are a few photos from longtime member, Cheryl...

Here are our musicians...

Our accompanist, Sandy...

Drummer Archie...

Bassist Al...

Violinist Cody...

For the first time, we held a silent auction of 40+ themed baskets, which was very well received...

End-of-the-Season Party at Barb's

Once again, as she has for over a decade, barb served as hostess for our after-concert party...  Thanks, Barb!

It was  beautiful evening, so we availed ourselves of the opportunity to dine al fresco in the lovely and spacious backyard...

Then we moved indoors to view the DVD of the concert...

Meet our new directors!

Jerry and Happi Berger are thrilled to be making their debut as the Village Singers' directors this season. They met at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where they both earned their Bachelor of Music degrees in vocal music education. Each of them was blessed to study under internationally acclaimed choral director, Dr. Brad Holmes, and toured nationally with the Millikin University Choir. Jerry holds a Master's degree from Vandercook College of Music and teaches music at Westgate Elementary in Arlington Heights. Happi is a homeschooling mother, a private music teacher for the Cary-Grove Performing Arts Center, and recently received training to assist women in labor as a birth doula.
