Singing for Lake Zurich's Tree Lighting Ceremony

The Village Singers of Lake Zurich performed this afternoon for Lake Zurich's 25th annual tree lighting ceremony, singing five of the songs we'll be presenting at our concerts next weekend.  Our director, Sara, is in Italy for two weeks singing at an opera competition, so our assistant director, Earl, led us tonight, with 20 of our 35 members able to join us...

As you can see in the photo of the audience below, there was a good turnout for the event, with lots of kids anxious for Santa to arrive on the fire truck...

Then after a few words from Lake Zurich Village President, Suzanne Branding, she introduced Santa and together they lit the Christmas tree...

...and then everyone went inside to enjoy cookies and hot chocolate (donated by CostCo) and to allow the children to visit with Santa.  The events were sponsored by the Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Lake Zurich.

Still three weeks from performance dates and we still need some polishing on pieces, but here are brief snippets from each song we'll be singing.


 

Our concerts are quickly approaching!  

The performances at Alpine Church will be presented on Saturday, December 1st at 7 pm, and again on Sunday, December 2nd at 3 pm.  A complimentary  "cookie party" will be held after each performance, giving everyone a chance to socialize, meet the singers, and satisfy your sweet tooth.

For a preview of the concert, you can attend Lake Zurich's 25th annual tree lighting ceremony which will feature us (as well as Santa!)  It begins at 4pm and lasts until 6 pm on Saturday, November 24th, at Paulus Park, 200 S. Rand Road.

Enjoy free refreshments, sing some carols, and see Santa.

Tickets are $8 and children under 12 are free.
