2017 Christmas Concert Party!

Once again, Barb graciously hosted our post-concert party just as she has done twice a year for the 16 years I've been in the group. Thanks Barb!

Here's the group enjoying the video of our performances...

And our hostess, Barb! You're the greatest! Thanks from all of us!

Welcome to our new director!

Valerie Lota works for Community Consolidated School District 15 as a Comprehensive Elementary Music Teacher where she is entering into her fifth school year teaching grades K-6. In addition to teaching, Valerie directs the 5th-6th Grade Chorus and Hand Bells, both of which perform throughout the school year. During the previous school year, the chorus sang at the Chicago Wolves Game at Allstate Arena and were also invited to sing the National Anthem at the Got2Run for Education Race in Arlington Heights.

In addition to music, Valerie holds various leadership roles in District 15. Presently, she is a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Green Team Coach for her school where her team works diligently at establishing the behavioral supports and social culture necessary for students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. Additionally, Valerie was one of five music teachers selected in the district to be a member of the Music Curriculum Revisions Committee. Over three years, the committee used the new Illinois Arts Learning Standards to create benchmarks, learning progressions, "I Can" statements, and anchor standards for each grade level.

Outside of District 15, Valerie is working towards a masters degree in Elementary Music at VanderCook College of Music. Valerie's most recent achievement at VanderCook was her completion of the Orff-Schulwerk Level III coursework as well as attainment of AOSA (American Orff-Schulwek Association) certificate.

She will bring great energy and enthusiasm to the job and she is looking forward to meeting all of our members and bringing a great holiday concert to our community!
