The second half of the concert will focus on the Christmas story with the lush harmonies of “A Baby is the King” and “There is a Season” followed by the lively “Angels in Seven.”
Many of the group’s talented soloists and ensembles will also entertain, giving the evening an energetic as well as a solemn beginning to the holiday. During the finale, members of the audience will be invited to join the chorus in “The Hallelujah Chorus.”
A complimentary reception will also be held after each concert at which time the chorus will be available to mingle with the audience. This is a wonder family event that will usher in the holiday season.

Record Attendance At Concerts!
Songs of Broadway and the silver screen brightened the weekend for those who attended the two performances of the Village Singers of Lake Zurich.

Well over 300 fans enjoyed the lively and lovely concerts, easily a new record in the six years I've been a member. Our audiences grow each concert as more attend and pass on the word about the high caliber of this "hidden treasure" of Lake Zurich.

Singers who arrive early employ various means to pass the time before warm-ups begin, as demonstrated by Helen and Chuck.

Amongst the several specialty numbers were long-time member Joe...

... and Pat and Fred.

Emcee extraordinaire, Byron Saltman, with the able assistance of Sienna and Jacob, presided over the traditional raffle drawing of gifts and certificates from local businesses.

Our profound gratitude to our founder and director, Jeannine Saltman, was expressed through the presentation of flowers...

Several dozen additional photos, which can be downloaded to your computer, can be seen here.

The Concert Approaches
Less than 2 weeks until our 2 performances (Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday May 4th) and the group is working conscientiously to master and memorize the chorus pieces as the soloists and group ensembles put the finishing touches on their pieces.

It's always rewarding and stimulating to realize that the songs that were so difficult and new and challenging 3 months ago, now are such beautiful sounding pieces which will delight the audience and provide the chorus members with feelings of accomplishment and pride. Come to one of the shows and see for yourself!

Thank You, Lakeview Community Church
Our last performance of this Christmas season was for the congregation of Lakeview Community Church, which has supported and encouraged us for five years. We deeply appreciate their providing the chorus venues for both rehearsal and performances. Jeannine warms us up in this photo...

... and during the service, Fred directed us on one song as Nick provided the solo with the chorus as back-up voices.

A favorite during this annual Christmas Service was leading the congregation in the singing of favorite traditional Christmas carols.

2007 Christmas Concert
On a hectic concert date, you have to relax whenever and wherever you can, as demonstrated by Joe.

A nice problem -- not enough chairs set up, and a crowd of over 200 spectators arriving...

Jeannine directs us to another moving performance.

"Reminisce" performs at their traditional outstanding level...

... and so does 'N Tune.

Eva again has the audience rolling in the aisles...

Nick entertains with a solo as Fred directs and the chorus provides backup vocals.

And emcee Byron again anchors the entire concert with exceptional narration.

And the grand finale as audience members join the chorus in Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus."

Final week before concerts!
This is the final week of rehearsals before the concerts on Saturday and Sunday, and all seems to be coming together nicely since Jeannine has seemed very calm the last few weeks. Here she is directing us last night as we practiced in the sanctuary for the first time with our new staging arrangement...

... in which we are actually in the audience rather than up on the stage.

Of course, we'd be out of business without our exceptional accompanist, Tara, who is like a second director in the manner in which she assists Jeannine week to week...

... and Lorraine has rejoined us to add her outstanding special effects and variety of musical "instuments" using the Clavinova...

Ruth is our other fine accompanist...

and she works with all our solos and small group numbers, and also pinch-hits when Tara can't make a rehearsal. A chorus group can not function without a number of talented accompanists, and we are infinitely blessed with these three wonderful musicians!

Only 5 Weeks to Go!
A number of members answered the call to come early to fold flyers and stuff envelopes for the mailing announcing the upcoming Christmas Concert.

It wasn't all just work though, as demonstrated by our director, Jeannine, as she adds some well-deserved horns to our super-salesman and board member, Scott.

Less than 5 weeks until the December 1st and 2nd concert dates and all are hard at work learning and memorizing the music.

Eva, the group's resident comedian, piques our interest with a preview of her costume for her (sure to be) hilarious number in this concert.

Two months and counting...
... until the Christmas Concert, and rehearsals are intense, but also fun. Here are the tenors and basses in sectional rehearsal, led by assistant director Fred and accompanist Tara, ...

... and the following pictures of full chorus rehearsal directed by Jeannine.

You can still come join us as on Monday evenings as a singer, or if that doesn't fit your schedule, put December 2nd and 3rd on your calendar and come hear this fine group in concert.
